One of those days....

We had one of those days today. Different than you might be thinking. This was one of those days that you could tell while it was happening that you are going to remember it for a long time and think of it often.

We arrived in Ft. Collins last night and checked into a really great little hotel called the Armstrong Hotel. It reminded us of the kinds of places that we stayed at in Europe. The whole town with the mountain backdrop and just general pacing of life was very similar to the Alpine towns we visited in Europe. We both enjoyed the flashback to that.

We went out and met some new friends last night that Kevin (Hatkat) and his wife know from seeing Widespread Panic at Red Rocks. They are all a great bunch of people and we had a great time taking in some of the nightlife that Ft. Collins has to offer.

This morning we went with them to a really excellent little breakfast place and had a great time easing into the day.

After that Marsi had to get some work done on the computer so we decided to make the best of it and take a drive "Up the Canyon" on CO 14 to the Mishiwaka which was extremely beautiful and a great little drive for an afternoon.

As of now, we are checked into a hotel near the airport for the night to await GratefulFred's arrival. We are super excited to go and pick her up in a few hours.

Marsi and I have definitely talked of moving out here at some point and that was magnified by quite a bit after seeing some of the country and hanging out in Ft. Collins. It will definitely motivate us to see what it would take to get out here. Hopefully someday.......................

Tomorrow is the day we have looked forward to for a LONG time. We get to see our favorite band String Cheese Incident reunite at Red Rocks. We are so excited. Can't wait to experience that band, in that venue, with some great friends.

Stay tuned....more to come!

Day 1 & 2

Day 1 - After traveling to Arkansas with our 2 kids to spend time with Doug's parents to visit and celebrate Doug's Dad's birthday, we began our journey out West. We are very fortunate to have Doug's parents watch our kids for the 2 weeks that we will be out on the road. THANKS MOM AND DAD!! Our first night was spent in Hays, Kansas, not too much to say about that other than we were in Kansas and barely missed some really nasty thunderstorms.

Day 2 - Left Kansas this morning and are currently on our way to Fort Collins, CO to meet up with our friends, Kevin (Hatkat) and his wife who flew in from California this morning. As we type, we are approximately 50 miles outside Denver and are watching the mountains slowly come into view. Can't believe we are finally in Colorado after starting to plan this trip back in February. Tomorrow we pick up GratefulFred from the airport and continue the first of 2 great weekends of fun and music.
